Ballynacargy GAA are delighted to take part in 'From Dawn ‘til Dusk, The Easter Club Lapathon Challenge, (as part of the Movathon Lake County Challenge)

Over Easter weekend (2nd to 5th April) Westmeath GAA are asking clubs and their members to take part in a Dawn ‘til Dusk challenge, and in so doing, to donate to the Westmeath Movathon Lake County Challenge, being held by Westmeath GAA, in conjunction with Westmeath Camogie Association and Wesmeath LGFA.

What is involved?

· Ballynacargy GAA are taking part on Good Friday 2nd April 2021 and have 10 leaders signed up over the day (Johnnie Penrose, Johnny (Woolly) Penrose, Frank Mescall, Shane Maher, Aisling Penrose, Brian Sheridan, Robert Troy, Margaret Nally, Frankie Doran, & Ciaran Kerrigan).

The leaders have agreed to take on the challenge on Good Friday and seek sponsorship for the Westmeath Movathon. It is the aim of the club to raise €2,000 for the Lake County Challenge.

You can join the leaders in the challenge by participating on your own local route or using the walking track in a socially distant manner. If using the walking track, send Niamh a text with your proposed time to ensure we don't have excessive numbers.

· We ask all Club members to participate by walking, running or cycling for a designated 30- or 60-minute period, record their distance and return it to their club’s co-ordinator (Niamh Penrose 087-9516572). This includes all our young members to take part and clock up the KM's!

· The club co-ordinator records the distance for each activity covered by club members at midday on each day, and again at day’s end. Distance will be shared on club’s social media and a “leaderboard” will be uploaded on Westmeath social media. (For ease of measurement 1km walking = 1.5km running = 3km cycling).

· The club which covers the greatest distance over the four days will win a set of 30 training jerseys for a team of their choice within the club. (The expectation would be that whichever team within the club contributes the most would win the jerseys).

· Walking tracks at club grounds may be used, and in clubs which don’t have walking tracks then participants should use their usual exercise routes.

· In addition to participation, donation, and sponsorship, either online through the GoFundMe page, or directly to the County Committee through the club, is very important.

· Each €5 donation to the fund (or give to one of our leaders) will receive one ticket for a raffle draw for the following prizes:

o Full-day coaching/training session for any club in Ireland by Jack Cooney and the county management team.

o Three-month gym membership (for two) in Wolfhound Fitness (donated by Joe and Katie in Wolfhound Fitness).

o Pair of All-Ireland Hurling Final tickets.

o Pair of All-Ireland Football Final tickets.

o Pair of All-Ireland Camogie Final tickets.

o Pair of All-Ireland Ladies Football final tickets.

o Signed Westmeath Camogie jersey.

o Signed Westmeath Ladies Football jersey.

o Signed Westmeath Hurling jersey.

o Signed Westmeath Football jersey.

o Annual passes for Westmeath Club Championship games.

o (Tickets and passes for 2021 if attendances permitted, otherwise they will be for 2022).

· It is hoped that each club would raise €2,000 through the Dawn ‘til Dusk challenge.
