On Friday last we travelled to Tyrellspass to take on the home side in round 4 of the league.

Tyrellspass started strongly with some fine scores from play, but we settled in and hit back with points from Troy Maher and Philip Price. Tony Doran also got his name on the scoresheet with a cracker of a goal and Jack Doran pointed a free before half time. Tyrellspass led at the break on a scoreline of 0-8 to 1-3.

We started strongly in the second half and thought we were reducing the deficit with a fine effort by Ryan Maher, but the ref overruled the decision and noted it as wide. We outscored the home team with nine scores to five in the second half and we showed some great displays of attacking football. Points came from Jack Doran (free), Dylan Keena, Mark Murphy, Conor Byrne, Philip Price, Troy Maher (0-2), Luke Price and Rhys Keena.

We were down by a point in the final minutes, when we were awarded a penalty after we were pulled down for a goal scoring chance. Troy stood up to take the penalty which was saved by the Tyrellspass goalie, but he successfully converted the rebound and stuck it over the bar to draw the game.

It was promising to see that all our scores bar 1 came from play in the second half, and the management team of Frank, Karl and Aidan will be happy with the progress that the team are making in advance of our first championship game versus St Marys Rochfordbridge in two weeks time.
